Welcome Back,
My Wife and I have officially moved to Franklin Tennessee, just south of Nashville. Usually I try to write the post for the week on Thursday and finish it as the market closes on Friday, then post on Saturday. This week I have been in packing and moving mode and have been unable to write a recap post.
I won’t keep you long but wanted to just put some material out there on books, podcasts, and papers I have found that have sparked my curiosity and driven me to further pursuit of knowledge. I have found my greatest learning has come from material or projects that are hard enough to make me want to quit, but not too hard to make me disinterested.
Charlie Munger says “I have known no wise people who didn't read all the time - none…zero”
History is such an advantage to understand the future, and it is almost a slap in the face to individuals before us to ignore the cyclical nature of life. I have challenged myself to make it almost a moral duty to TRY to understand the past and make better decisions going further. I am not perfect on spending free time this way ha!
Understanding the past to influence the future first applies in my Faith, then to investment management. The following are books I have read or are in the middle of that I have found very beneficial in specific areas and a podcast.
Faith - Humility - Murray (anything CS Lewis)
Investing - The Intelligent Investor - Graham
Leadership - George Washington - Chernow
Biography - Benjamin Franklin - Isaacson
Podcast - The Rest is History
Newspapers - Wall Street Journal - Barrons
Hope you may find one of these interesting, let me know if you have any other recommendations for me!
I will be back to market commentary next week.
